Remote Active Directory Authentication Now Available for SaaS Accounts, Mainframes & More
SEATTLE (BUSINESS WIRE) July 27,2010Passlogix®, Inc., today announced that its flagship v-GO® Single Sign-On™ (v-GO SSO) solution extends the capabilities of Microsoft® Forefront™ Unified Access Gateway (UAG) 2010 by expanding the number of corporate applications that can be remotely accessed through Forefront UAG. End users working off-site now can access SaaS-based, mainframe and other applications that are unable to perform authentication through Microsoft Active Directory, using v-GO SSO to extend both authentication and single sign-on to those applications.
Deploying v-GO SSO in conjunction with Forefront UAG makes it possible to:
The joint solution leverages Passlogix-exclusive on-demand functionality that enables enterprise single sign-on without v-GO software installed on client machines. When users logon to Forefront UAG, v-GO SSO is automatically downloaded to the user’s machine. The Passlogix technology simultaneously synchronizes user credentials maintained in Active Directory so that v-GO SSO has access to user IDs and passwords for each application that uses a proprietary authentication infrastructure not integrated with Active Directory. v-GO SSO then automatically inputs credentials to those applications upon user request.
These features enhance Forefront UAG’s ability to provide remote secure socket layer (SSL)-based application access to both managed and unmanaged devices, along with full endpoint security management and granular policy-based authorization that defines which application components or files a user can access.
“v-GO SSO’s support for Forefront UAG advances our Business Ready Security strategy of equipping end users with fast, more secure and seamless remote access to their critical applications and information,” said Greg Jensen, senior director of product management at Microsoft. “The combination of expanded application access and single sign-on to those applications addresses the needs of today’s businesses for anytime, anywhere data access as well as helping organizations reduce IT risks and costs.”
“It’s imperative today to provide easy access to any kind of application for remote, mobile and temporary workers. Together, Microsoft’s Forefront UAG and v-GO SSO not only do that but also extend single sign-on capabilities to these users,” said Matt Berzinski, product manager for Passlogix. “Both of these factors eliminate barriers that previously made it difficult for users to work efficiently from any location.”
v-GO SSO also integrates with Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010, enabling organizations that deploy both FIM and v-GO SSO to automate provisioning and deprovisioning of application IDS and passwords for single sign-on. The integration makes it possible to automatically update v-GO SSO with application credentials that are added, modified or deleted by FIM in target applications, automatically terminate user account access to all applications when an end user is deprovisioned by FIM, and easily correlate application IDs with user identities to expedite FIM deployments.
